Mike1/2Nelson (aka Mike Half Nelson, aka Mike, aka, half, aka MHN) is a singer, songwriter and actor. He grew up in a small Iowa town of 4,000 people. At 19, he moved to Los Angeles to become a legend. What becomes a legend most? Mike learned that film noir was a motif that would permeate his entire experience and understanding of the city of Angels. He subsequently traveled to New York City to attend The New School and Columbia University. Mike's engaging dance with the devil followed him to the city that never sleeps - where his love affairs with drug addicts, prostitutes, and scoundrels colored and shaped the music he wanted to create. A love of songwriting was the one thing that continually saved him from the brink of despair and disaster.
Mike attended a Caribbean medical school, thinking perhaps - as a doctor, he could cure his opiate-addicted lover from himself. He was wrong. One semester in, he left the island breeze to further pursue his love of music.
Mike1/2Nelson has spent years as part of New York’s alternative comedy/queer theater scene but is best known for performing in Tony Award winner Liz Swados’s final musical theater piece, The Nomad. Although his music has been featured in a web series, the 2019 Joshua Tree Pride Festival, and several stages along the East coast, his first official release, All Are Welcome will be out this 2020.
Mike1/2Nelson (aka Mike Half Nelson, aka Mike, aka, half, aka MHN) is known for his distinct singing voice, relatable, catchy hooks and knowing, bittersweet lyrics. He has taken the lessons from the proverbial School of Hard Knocks and turned them into an anthemic disco-rock-muscle car of an EP.
